Elizabeth ‘Jane’ Landry

Funeral service for the late Elizabeth ‘Jane’ Landry, 98, formerly of River Bourgeois, was held July 30 in St. John the Baptist Church, River Bourgeois, with Father Antolin Asor officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Mrs. Landry died July 25, 2019, in Richmond Villa, St. Peters.

Born November 15, 1920, in River Bourgeois, she was a daughter of the late Anselm and Christina (Pottie) McPhee. She was a devout Roman Catholic and served her Parish of St. John the Baptist as a member of the CWL for more than 66 years. She was the last surviving founding member of the CWL. She loved music and enjoyed singing and playing a tune on her accordion. On September 10, 1946, she married Gervase Landry. She enjoyed playing bingo, reading, sewing, knitting, cats and baking. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She is survived by daughter, Lola (Kenny) Petitpas, D’Escousse; son, Melvin, Halifax; two grandsons, Kevin (Vicky) Petitpas, Port Hastings; Nathan (Sue Arulanandam) Petitpas, Toronto; great-granddaughter, Amelia Jane; sister-in-law, Melda Clattenburg, New Brunswick; many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband of almost 60 years, Gervase Landry; sister, Lola Manning; two brothers, Clarance and Allen McPhee.

Memorial donations may be made to the Richmond Villa Recreation Department or St. John the Baptist Cemetery Fund.
