EVELYN THERESA MACADAM

Funeral service for the late Evelyn Theresa MacAdam, 91, Antigonish, was held January 13 in St. Ninian Cathedral with Father Donald MacGillivray officiating, assisted by Fathers Gary MacPherson, John Barry and Bernie MacAdam. Burial will be in the parish cemetery at a later date.

Mrs. MacAdam died January 9, 2020, in Parkland Retirement Home in Antigonish.

Readers at the funeral Mass were Ryan Richardson and Dylan Chisholm. Addison Dunphy, Ali Chisholm, Ivy MacIsaac, Annabel Chisholm, Chelsea MacIsaac, Will MacIsaac, Owen Chisholm, Will Chisholm, Daniel Chisholm,Dawson MacIsaac, Ethan MacIsaac and Colin MacIsaac presented the offertory gifts. Eucharistic ministers were Colin MacGillivray and Sister Sandra Cooke.  Music was provided by St. Ninian Choir and Andy Hirt.

Pallbearers were Marc Chisholm, Adam Dunphy, David Chisholm, Bobby Dunphy, Doug Chisholm, Trevor MacIsaac, Michael MacIsaac and Matthew MacIsaac.

Born April 26, 1928, in Reserve Mines, she was a daughter of the late Wilfred Laurier and Bridget Cathleen (MacDonald) Gallant. She lived her life to the fullest and she was most happy spending time with family and friends, bowling, dancing, gardening, knitting and traveling.  In her younger years, she actively supported her children’s activities in highland dancing competitions and in many sporting activities.  She was also an active member of the Catholic Women’s League (CWL) for many years.

She is survived by nine children, Gary (Pauline),Edmonton; Kevin (late Nancy), Prince Edward Island; Brenda (Bernie) Chisholm, Antigonish; Patsy (Mike) MacIsaac, Antigonish; Greg (Valerie), Halifax; Nancy (Rob) Dunphy, Antigonish; Donna (Paul) Richardson, Kingston; David (Fern), Halifax; Audrey (Jamie) Strathdee, Toronto; 29 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Irene (late Leo) Roach, Marie (Mickey) MacKenzie.

She was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Alexander Joseph MacAdam; two brothers, Eldie Gallant, Thoryl (Laura) Gallant; four sisters, Shirley Gallant, Marianita (Fred) MacNeil, Mary Agnes ‘Nadie’ (William) Cooke, Mary Remegius ‘Megie’ (Camille) Botte.
