George ‘Geordie’ Raymond White
George ‘Geordie’ Raymond White, died April 28, 2019, in St. Martha’s Hospital, Antigonish. Born in 1930 in Country Harbour Lake, Guysborough County, he was a son of the late George and Lillian (Smith) White. He lived his whole life in Country Harbour Lake with the exception of a brief time in Toronto, where he met and married Bernie. He lived a long, healthy life, his only lengthy hospital stay being in 1969 when he donated a kidney to his brother, Bill. He never slowed down and retained his quick wit and sense of humour until the end. He was self-employed and loved to work outdoors. He was resourceful and independent, a self-taught mechanic, plumber, carpenter, electrician and engineer. He enjoyed hockey and country music. Always rooting for the NHL underdog, he also enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren play sports. He is survived by six children, George (Diane), Country Harbour Lake; Linda (Wayne Schofield), New Minas; Tom (Eileen), Country Harbour Lake; Terri (Scott) MacAulay, Baddeck; Jackie (Steve) Belyea, New River, New Brunswick; Lisa (Steve Thomas), Halifax; 11 grandchildren, Melissa, Daniel, Dylan, Nick, Matthew, Alexandria, Alison, Natasha, Shannon, Joe, Ryan; seven great-grandchildren, Danika, Brax, Alistair, Maggie, Lennie, Serena, Lindy; four sisters, Vera, Nina, Dolly, Allie; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Bernie; three brothers, Edgar, Bill, Bob; three sisters, Dorothy, Mid, Nel. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
