GERALDINE MARIE GOULD

Funeral service for the late Geraldine Marie Gould, 72, Membertou, formerly of Paqtnkek Mi’kmaw Nation, was held August 19 in Immaculate Conception Church, Heatherton, with Father Andrew Gillies officiating, assisted by Deacon Art Riley. Burial was in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Summerside Road.

Mrs. Gould died August 14, 2019, in Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.

Readers at the funeral Mass were Jessie Denny, Mary Isabelle Poulette-Taylor and Alexanderine Rankin. Julius Estevan, Promise Julian and Trey Stevens presented the offertory gifts. Music was proviced by the Eskasoni Choir.

Active pallbearers were Jay Julian, Floyd Prosper, Theodore Gould, Ben Lafford, Aaron Stevens and Terry Paulette.

Honorary pallbearers were Christopher Pictou, John H. Paul, Julie Christmas, Elizabeth Googoo, John R. Prosper, Marie Pictou, Levi Paulette, Juanita Paul and Nancy Paul.

She was a daughter of the late Frank Toney and Charlotte Stevens. She like to keep busy and enjoyed bingo, gambling, knitting, quilting, making wooden baskets and flowers, cooking, beading, and travelling with her husband and family.

She is survived by six children, Norman Prosper (Rachael), Ottawa; Daniel Prosper, Paqtnkek; Lillian Prosper; Membertou; Maury Prosper, Paqtnkek; Rita Prosper, Paqtnkek; Patricia Prosper, Paqtnkek; seven grandchildren, Cecily Prosper, Rene Prosper, Lorraine Basque, Nyesha Sylliboy, Julius Esteban, Promise Julian, all of Paqtnkek; Nadine Prosper, Membertou; many great grandchildren; three stepchildren, Martha Crossman, Lincoln Gould, Theodore Gould, all of Membertou; four siblings, Bessie Prosper, Rita Tontarelli, Fred Isadore, Mary Jane McDonough; two godchildren, Christopher Pictou, Kale Gould.

She was predeceased by her husband, Carl Gould; son, Roderick Prosper; foster parents, Noel and Kathryan Poulette; three siblings, John Isadore, Mirium Taylor, Louis Isadore; foster brother, William Poulette; two godchildren, Diane Morrison, Jimmy Armstrong.
