Gerard ‘Jerry’ William Dort

Funeral service for the late Gerard ‘Jerry’ William Dort, 61, Port Hawkesbury, formerly of Lochside, was held February 28 in Our Lady of Assumption Church, Arichat, with Father Michel Exalant officiating. Burial will be held at a later date. Mr. Dort died February 23, 2019, in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born July 27, 1957, in Arichat, he was a son of the late Albert and Anita (Forrest) Dort. He enjoyed camping and Bluegrass music. He was a welder by trade but was also known as ‘Mr. Fix It’ by family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Sharon Mary (DeRoach) Dort; daughter, Kelly Jeffery (Ronald), Porters Lake; son, Paul (Jessica), Lake Echo; four grandchildren, Samantha, Cassandra, Mia, William; three brothers, Andrew (Amelia), Lochside; Francis (Therese), Alderney Point; Edward (Sharon), British Columbia; sister, Linda Cameron (Marc Boudreau), Arichat. He was predeceased by two brothers, Leonard Forest, David Dort. Memorial donations may be made to St. Ann Centre, Arichat, or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
