Funeral service for the late Gladys Blanche Perry, 73, Monastery, Antigonish County, was held February 18 in St. Peter’s Church, Tracadie, with Father John Barry and Father Danny Boudreau officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery in the spring. Mrs. Perry died February 13, 2019, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Readers at the funeral Mass were Marlene Fitzpatrick and Laurie Durant. Kim Perry, April Gorman and Justine DeCoste presented the offertory gifts. Altar servers were Donnie Pitts, Myles Somers and Joe DeYoung. Music was provided by Tyrus Wallace. Members of Tracadie Fire Department and the Ladies Auxiliary Tracadie Fire Department formed an honour guard. Active pallbearers were Lila Beshong, Barbara Perry, Theresa DeCoste, Muriel Gorman, Florence Boudreau and Shirley Boudreau. Honorary pallbearers were Shawn Perry, Jody Beshong, Reggie Beshong, Keith DeCoste. Born March 11, 1945, in Monastery, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Martha (Bowie) DeCoste. A devoted captain’s wife of almost 55 years, she fished for years with her husband. She involved herself within her community, always giving back and asking for nothing in return. She looked forward to Sunday night card games. She was vice president of the Ladies Auxiliary of Tracadie and District Fire Department and was an Avon representative for 10 years. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Wilson; son, Ricky (Kathy), Monastery; daughter, Ronda (Paul) Rogers, Bridgewater; five grandchildren, Ashton, Hannah, Abbey, Logan; great-grandchild, Landon.; six sisters, Shirley (William) Boudreau, Lila Beshong, Florence (Clifford) Boudreau, Muriel (Kenneth) Gorman, all of East Tracadie; Barbara (Roy) Perry, Monastery; Theresa Decoste, Dartmouth; five brothers, Lloyd (Shirley), Toronto; Eddie (Margaret), Gerald, Ronnie, Eugene (Eleanor), all of Monastery; aunt, Bessy Fougere. She was predeceased by son, Rodney; two brothers, Vincent, Ralph; two sisters, Stella, Gloria; two sisters-in-law, Edith and Marilyn Decoste; brother-in-law, John Beshong.
