Herman Angus Burke

Funeral service for the late Herman Angus Burke, 71, Port Hawkesbury, was held January 12 in St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury, with Father Conrad Edwards officiating. Mr. Burke died January 8, 2019, in QEII Infirmary Site, Halifax. Born February 23, 1947, he was a son of the late Fred and Annabelle (Perrin) Burke. He grew up in Port Hawkesbury and retired from the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 43, after 28 years of service. He enjoyed bowling, darts, cards and bingo. He served as a member of the Lions Club and was a choir member and former Eucharistic minister with St. Joseph parish. He lived in the Chisholm Wing of the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home for the past six years. He is survived by three siblings, Patsy (late Malcolm) MacNeil, Jerry (Peggy) Burke, Catherine (late Jimmie) Cogswell; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Herman was predeceased by brother, Dan Willie (Liz) MacDonald; nephew, Freddie MacNeil. Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Hymnal Fund or the Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund.
