Funeral service for the late Herman Joseph Samson, 76, Louisdale, was held May 11 in St. Louis Roman Catholic Church with Father Duncan MacIsaac officiating. Burial was in St. Louis Parish Cemetery. Mr. Samson died May 4, 2019. Readers at the funeral Mass were Eula Samson, Katelyn Samson and Daniel Samson. Eulogist was nephew Ray Poirier. Altar servers were Mary Ann and Savannah MacLeod. Erin Samson and nephew Andrè Poirier presented the offertory gifts. Eucharistic minister was Jamie Samson. Music was provided by Tommy and Shelly Samson Youth Choir. Urn bearers were children Phil, Dion and Tracey and grandchildren Daniel, Katelyn, Erin and Jamie Samson. Born and raised in Louisdale, he was a son of the late Felix Samson Jr. and Lillian Burke Samson. He was a hard-working rods-man in the iron worker's union for more than 40 years. He worked most notably on the Confederation Bridge connecting P.E.I. to the rest of Canada, but even on smaller jobs, was always dedicated and able in his work. He enjoyed fishing, and always shared his catches with family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary; two sons, Phillip (Colleen), Dion (Donna); daughter, Tracey (Mark); four grandchildren, Daniel, Katelyn, Erin, Jamie; special daughter-in-law, Margaret; five siblings, Carl (Joan), Roy (Eleanor), Patsy (Venere), Joan (Stanley), Estelle; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four siblings, Vincent, Teddy, Sylvia, Ellen Jane. Memorial donations may be made to St. Louis Parish renovation fund or St. Louis Cemetery fund.
