Howard Patrick ‘Howie’ Cashin
Funeral service for the late Howard Patrick ‘Howie’ Cashin, 71, Port Felix, Guysborough County, was held September 22 in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Port Felix, with Father Jonathan Nnajiofor officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
Mr. Cashin died September 16, 2018, in Guysborough Memorial Hospital.
Born February 27, 1947, in Port Felix, he was a son of the late Francis and Velda Cashin. He worked at many different jobs, including the BIO, fishing, construction, and carpentry. He was a ‘jack of all trades’ and mastered them all. He was a member of the Labourers’ Union for more than 40 years, a former member of the Tree Top Volunteer Fire Department and an active member of St. Joseph’s Parish. He did projects for many people and could be found in Port Felix, Whitehead, Little Dover, Charlos Cove or Erinville lending a helping hand. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his good friend, Bill; a daily visit with Mary Ann and Doug; a coffee with Timmy; taking the newspaper to Cecil and ice fishing in the winter with Laurie or Chris.
He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Doreen (Marr); daughter, Norma (Darrel) Keefe; brother, Donald (Alana); three sisters, Mary Ann (Doug), Connie (Nelson), Donna (Emery); mother-in-law, Rita David; sister-in-law, Lorna Cashin; many nieces, nephews, cousins.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Roddie, Rev. Robert; nephew, Gerard.
