Funeral service for the late Hughena ‘Ena’ MacLean, 96, Whycocomagh, Inverness County, was held December 22 in Stewart United Church, Whycocomagh, with Reverend Alicia Cox officiating. Burial will be in Stewartdale Cemetery at a later date. Mrs. MacLean died December 19, 2018, in Alderwood Rest Home, Baddeck, Born June 8, 1922, in Marion Bridge, she was a daughter of the late Hugh Morrison and Nellie Sutherland. At the age of seven, when her father died she was brought up by ‘Little Grandma’ Margaret Campbell. She looked after children and foster children in her home. She also looked after older people in her home. She belonged to MacLean UCW and later Whycocomagh UCW where she became a life member. She is survived by three children, Tootsie (Sonny) Smith, Malcolm (Marlene) MacLean, Caroline Boomgaars MacLean; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Arlene (Darren) Ragan, Monica and Makayla Ragan, Craig and Keara, Cindy (Larry) MacDonald, Brett (Biljana) MacLean, Jullian MacLean, Jessica Maclean, Curtis (Cindy) Boomgaars and Lucas; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Neil MacLean; grandson, Jeff Boomgaars; granddaughter, Kelly Marie Boomgaars; four sisters, Elma (Donald) Garland, Elda (Kenny) Garland, Florence (Fred) Kennedy, Jessie (Archie) MacKinnon; two brothers, Murdock Morrison, Arthur (Aggie) Poshey.
