INEZ EVELYN (COATES) SMITH

Burial of the late Inez Evelyn (Coates) Smith, 95, will be held in May 2020 at Valley View Memorial Gardens, Surrey, B.C.     

Mrs. Smith died October 20, 2019, in Richmond Villa, St. Peter’s.  

Born February 29, 1924, in Dundurn, Saskatchewan, she was the daughter of the late Francis ‘Frank’ and Ida (Myers) Coates. She lived in Surrey and Chase, British Columbia, where she and her husband, raised their family.  She moved to Cape Breton, in 1996 at the age of 72.  She enjoyed working in her gardens, solving Sudoku puzzles, playing solitaire, watching her favourite tv shows, knitting, or on-line catching up with family and friends throughout Canada. She enjoyed trips out West to attend family reunions.     

She is survived six children, Robert ‘Bob’ (Gladys) Smith, Sherwood Park, Alberta; Irene (Peter Beddington) Judiesch, Kamloops, B.C.; Val (Norma) Smith, St. Peter’s; Dorianne (Dale)  Moores, Barriere, B.C.; Laurelli (Carman) Kobe, Laurel Smith, both of Kamloops, B.C.; 15 grandchildren, Annette, Scott, Ron, Casey, PJ, Frank, Jenny, Lily, Joseph, Nicky, Trish, Philip, Mitch, Robert J., Piper; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brother, Allen Coates, Vancouver, B.C.; nieces and nephews.     

She was predeceased by her husband Robert ‘Bob’; five sisters, Sarah, in infancy; Annie, Stella, Mabel, Ida; seven brothers: Wilfred, George, James ‘Jim’, Leonard ‘Len’, Robert, Edward ‘Ed’, Myron ‘Bud’.
