IRA DELBERT DORT
Funeral service for the late Ira Delbert Dort, 80, Westville, formerly of Port Bickerton, Guysborough County, was held January 2 in Sonora Baptist Church with Reverend Ron Ford officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Sonora.
Mr. Dort died December 24, 2019, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish.
Born in Sonora, he was a son of the late Edgar and Marion (Pryde) Dort. He worked at Bickerton Industries for 39 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He survived by his wife, Caroline (Croft); three daughters, Tracy Dort, Halifax; Sarah Dort, Antigonish; Natasha (Stephen) Karpow, Edmonton, Alberta; three sons, Trent (Samantha), Country Harbour; Jonathan (Tara), Antigonish; Matthew (Amanda), Truro; 17 grandchildren, Brandon, Nikolaus, Madison, Travis, Dawson, Emma, Katie, Lucy, Mae, Colby, Carson, Carter, Naryan, Ashton, Liam, Kelsey, Keegan; sister, Joy Dort, Sonora; two stepdaughters, Patricia Logan, Westville; Jennifer Thompson, Grande Prairie; five stepsons, Sam Sample, Manitoba; David Sample, James River; Gregor Sample, Onslow; Jason Sample, Westville; Bradley Sample, Westville; nine step-grandchildren, Marion, Matthew, Joey, James, Colin, Caitlin, Alanna, Brenden, Riley; two step-great-grandchildren, Keigan, Nora; many nieces, nephews and their families.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Gladys (Kaiser).
