JAMES ARTHUR DESMOND
Funeral service for the late James Arthur Desmond, 85, Lincolnville, was held August 10 in Tracadie Baptist Church with granddaughter, Reverend Elaine Walcott officiating. Burial was in Sunnyview Cemetery, Tracadie.
Mr. Desmond died August 4, 2019.
He was a son of the late William and Jane (Ash) Desmond. An avid community historian, he enjoyed participating in and leading community storytelling. He also enjoyed music, enthusiastically cheering for wrestling and boxing live or on television, Sunday driving, seeking out flea markets and antiquing while driving through scenic forest areas on rural routes. He was a life-long forester and also worked as a seaman and deckhand. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family
He is survived by three sons, James Jr. (Cindy), with whom he resided in Lincolnville; Clifford (Jessica), Halifax; Raymond, Winnipeg; generations of grand, great and great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; five foster grandchildren, Rob, Keith, Shelia, Janet, Bessie.
He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Agnes (MacLellan) Desmond; two children, Sidney, Beatrice; six sisters, Effie, Margaret, Ann, Emma, Gert, Charlotte; three brothers, Clarence, Jack, Wilfred.
