James Robert Crispo

Funeral service for the late James Robert ‘Jim’ ‘Critter’ Crispo, 63, Blind River, Ontario, was held September 12 in St. Peter’s Church, Tracadie, Antigonish County, with Father Bill Crispo officiating, assisted by Father John Barry.  Burial was in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Havre Boucher.

Mr. Crispo died September 6, 2019, in North Shore Health Network, Blind River.

Readers at the funeral Mass were Mike Lahaie and Jenny Donnelly. Music was provided by Ty Wallace.

Active pallbearers were Yvon Dufour, Eleanor DeCoste, Donnie Mattie, Lorraine Brymer, Ed Mattie and Angus Mattie.

Honorary pallbearers were Mike Connors, Gary Mattie and Danny Mattie.

Born October 26, 1955, in Antigonish, he was a son of Pamphillis (Mattie) Stanislawski, Elliot Lake, Ontario, and the late James Crispo. He had a lifelong career with the Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO), and he also owned the Lakeview Inn and Restaurant in Blind River. He had many outdoor interests and spent much of his time hunting, fishing, ATVing and snowmobiling. His proudest achievement was building his own log home.

He is survived by his wife, Terry (Dean); four stepchildren, Scott English (Linzi), Patrick Huffman (Krystle), Steven Huffman (Jenny), Kelly Wagg (Colin); five grandchildren, Devon, Konnor, Mitchell, Autumn, Poppy; four siblings, David Crispo, Mark Crispo, Yvonne Crispo, Louise McCuaig (Paul); stepbrother, Joe Stanislawski (Goody); stepsister,  Barb Godin (Ben); sister-in-law, Karen VonPickartz (Gerrie); three brothers-in-law, Rick Dean (Cindy), Michel Lahaie, Dave Fete; two sons, James Crispo (Dominique), Calvin Crispo; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, many relatives in Havre Boucher, Mattie Settlement and Tracadie.

He was predeceased by his stepfather, Edmund Stanislawski; sister, Julia Lahaie; mother-in-law, Loretta Dean; stepfather-in-law, Bert Vandendriessche; stepbrother, Edmund Stanislawski; stepsister, Marianne Fete; niece, Kara Bouillon.

Memorial donations may be made to a sick kid’s hospital of choice, St. Michael’s Foundation (30 Bond Street, Toronto, Ontario M5B 1W8 www.stmichaelsfoundation.com), or the Havre Boucher Luncheon Fund.
