Funeral service for the late Janet Agnes MacDougall, 90, was held August 24 in St. Ninian Cathedral, Antigonish, with Father Donald MacGillivray officiating. Burial was in St. Ninian Cemetery. Miss MacDougall died August 20, 2018, in High-Crest Nursing Home in Sherbrooke. Readers at the funeral Mass were Miles Tompkins, Monica MacDonald and Florence Milley. Ann MacDougall, Nelson, Iris and Mae Leuschner presented the offertory gifts. Music was provided by Margaret MacDonald. Urn bearer was Isabel MacDonald. Born March 28, 1928, in Springfield, Antigonish County, she was the daughter of the late Allan and Alice (Floyd) MacDougall. As a young woman, she graduated from St. Martha’s Hospital School of Nursing and pursued her profession primarily in the United States, retiring back to Antigonish at the end of her career. She enjoyed music and travelling and had a great sense of humor. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Mary (Joe) MacDougall, Jackie (John) MacDougall; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, in both Canada and the United States. She was predeceased by seven sisters, Catherine, Frances, Mary, Elizabeth, Margaret, Claire, Anna; three brothers, John, Jim, Joe.
