Jean Cecilia Morrow

Funeral service for the late Jean Cecilia Morrow, 91, was held May 21 in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, Antigonish. Burial will be in Ottawa at a later date. Mrs. Morrow died May 18, 2018, in R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home. Readers at the service were Leo Purcell and Jeannine Munroe. Music was provided by Tyrus Wallace. Born December 9, 1926, in Chicago, Illinois, she was a daughter of the late James and Hattie (LeBlanc) Purcell. She and her husband Frank, along with their 3-year-old son Greg, moved to Ottawa in 1961, where she worked for Transport Canada. They returned to Nova Scotia every summer and, upon retirement, sold their house in Ottawa and moved to Halifax. An accomplished artist, she loved to paint scenes of the ocean and bright flowers. She is survived by her son, Greg (Ellen), Ottawa, Ontario; two grandchildren, Hannah, Montreal, Quebec; Peter, Ottawa; many nieces and nephews; brother, Leo Purcell; sister, Eileen Power, Antigonish.
