Funeral service for the late Jesse Michael Francis Wallace-Soucy, 19, was held September 18 in St. Peter’s Church, Tracadie, with Father John Barry officiating, assisted by Deacon Art Riley. Burial was in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Merland.

Mr. Wallace-Soucy died September 12, 2019, in Antigonish.

Readers at the funeral Mass were Meagan DeCoste and Nicole Wallace. Aidan Wallace and Maggie Lee Wallace presented the offertory gifts. Music was provided by Stevie, Tracy and George Wallace.

Active pallbearers were Robert Noble, Ryan Wallace, Cory Boyd, Jadrian Wallace, Robert Wallace and Jordan Wallace.

Honorary pallbearers were Gina Wallace, Natasha Bowman, Andrew Wallace, Madison Bartlett, Maytha Wallace, Shaeleen Wallace, Adam Wallace, Meagan DeCoste, Riley Wallace, Nicole Wallace, Aidan Wallace, Maggie Lee Wallace, Mason Wallace, Brett Boyle, Jake Boyle, Derek Vanalstyne and Ian McGann.

Born November 6, 1999, in Kingston, Ontario, he was the son of Nancy Wallace (John Connors), Antigonish, and Mark Soucy, Halifax. He was an active member of the Army Cadets for several years and, during that time, was promoted to Sergeant. Through hard work and commitment, he was presented with the Queen Diamond Jubilee Award, the Legion Medal of Excellence as well as several other medals. He had a keen interest in history and a fascination with building things, which was evident in the time and effort he and Robert spent building The Camp. He enjoyed searching for seashells and beach glass with his girlfriend, cooking, music and his cats Flokey and Ivar.

Besides his parents, he is survived by girlfriend, Victoria Hadley, Mulgrave; maternal grandmother, Joan Wallace, South River; paternal grandmother, Joan Soucy, Ontario; nine aunts and uncles, Gerald (Gina) Wallace, Grand Prairie, Alberta; Alfie (Dawn) Wallace, Kingston, Ont.; Robbie (Mary) Wallace, Heatherton; Rosemary Wallace, South River; Cassie (Stevie) Wallace, New France; Carmen (Donna) Wallace; Beauly; Freddie Wallace, South River; Leon (Rose) Wallace, Purl Brook; Kelly (Mike) Boyle, New France; many cousins.

He was predeceased by maternal grandfather, John Francis Wallace; paternal grandfather, Lionel Soucy; two uncles, Kevin Wallace, Michael Soucy; aunt, Laurie Soucy; three cousins, Jonathan Wallace, Jesse Davis, Gerry Wallace.
