John ‘Jack’ Mercer
A celebration of life for the late John ‘Jack’ Mercer, 74, Port Hawkesbury will be held Saturday, February 9 from 3 - 6 p.m. in Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 43, Port Hawkesbury. Mr. Mercer died January 24, 2019, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. He was an insurance adjuster and business man for more than five decades. He was an avid outdoorsman and experienced many adventures in regions rugged and remote. He enjoyed trap shooting, hunting, billiards, fishing and telling stories, and a lover of laughter. Born March 13, 1944, in Upper Gullies, Newfoundland and Labrador and raised in Corner Brook, he was a son of the late Jim and Frances (Bray) Mercer. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; three sons, Stephen (Angela and Jordan), Paul (Carol), Jeff (Ann-Marie); four grandchildren, Corey, Cole, Stella, Ava; brother, Raymond (Sandy); three sisters, Margaret, Alice, Eileen; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members, Chris (Angelika and Morgan), Sherry, Shelly (Kim), Natalie, Nancy, Kerri, Glenn, Michael, Corina, Elaine and Charl, Andy and Dawn, Corey and Trina (deceased), Gloria and Ed. He was predeceased by sister, Helen.
