Funeral service for the late John Kenzie MacIsaac, 62, Brierly Brook, Antigonish County, was held April 23 in St. Ninian Cathedral, Antigonish, with Father Donald MacGillivray officiating, assisted by Father Daniel MacDonald. Mr. MacIsaac died April 17, 2019, in St Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Readers at the funeral Mass were Doreen Taylor-Claxton, Sarah Fishleder and Kenzie MacIsaac. Music was provided by Emery van de Wiel, Doreen Taylor-Claxton, Cecelia Taylor, Barbara Gillis and organist Ann MacIsaac. Pallbearers were Gordon Bekkers, David Bekkers, Michael MacIsaac, Caleb MacIsaac, Daniel MacIsaac and Thomas Carson. Born December 26, 1956, he was a son of the late Dan Hugh and Francis Anne (Downey) MacIsaac. As well as being a lineman by trade, he was raised on a farm in Brierly Brook. Whether on the job or at home, he had an inexhaustible work ethic and a pride in mentoring those younger than him. He enjoyed the outdoors, cards, and the company of family and friends. He is survived by three children, Kayla, Andrew, Bernard; four grandchildren, Sawyer, Lilah, Autumn, Avery; 11 siblings, Mary Bekkers, Effie (Jim) Taylor, Bernard (Ann) MacIsaac, Gordon (Anne) MacIsaac, Jesse (Edis) MacIsaac, Daniel (Gwen) MacIsaac, Anne (John Andrew) Boyd, Theresa (Randy) Fishleder, Cabrini (Marcie) Macquarrie, Cecelia Porter, Hector (Ann) MacIsaac; wife for 24 years, Mary Margaret MacIsaac. He was predeceased by brother-in-law, Tony Bekkers. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice. Online condolences: www.MacIsaacs.ca
