JOHN SYLVESTER BOWIE
Funeral service for the late John Sylvester 'Johnny' Bowie, 64, Barrie, Ontario, formerly of Tracadie, Antigonish County, was held December 30 in St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, Tracadie, with Father John Barry officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
Mr. Bowie died December 12, 2019, in Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, Barrie, Ontario.
Born April 13, 1955, in Antigonish, he was a son of the late Basil and Gertrude (Feltmate) Bowie. He grew up in Tracadie and played hockey for the Strait Pirates. He was an avid hockey fan.He worked as an electrician and was a member of the IBEW Union for 35 years. He worked all over the central and western provinces. He was very close to his family and friends and loved to visit when he came home to Nova Scotia. Christmas was his favourite holiday. He was an avid reader, enjoyed weight training and animals.
He is survived by his sister, Theresa (Kevin) O’Connor; two brothers, Garnet (Kendra) Bowie, Donald Bowie; four nephews, Reggie, Caleb, Tyler, Jeremy; nieces, Deidra, Laycee, Kira; close friend, Jan Imbeault; four great-nephews; one great-niece.
He was predeceased by brother, Basil ‘Junior’ Bowie.
