Joseph Alexander ‘Joey’ Doyle
Funeral service for the late Joseph Alexander ‘Joey’ Doyle, 78, Whiteside, was held May 11 in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home. Burial will be held at a later date.
Mr. Doyle died May 5, 2019, in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston.
Born in Point Tupper, he was a son of the late Theresa MacDonald (Morash) and Edward James Doyle. He worked for the Department of Transportation at the Canso Causeway tollbooths for 26 years, then as a stay at home husband/father. He enjoyed time spent with his family making jokes and songs with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Christine Doyle (Smith), Whiteside; six children, Edna Jane Doyle (Michael Marryatt), Port Hawkesbury; Joan Doyle (Tammy Doucette), Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island; Joseph Doyle (Sophie Hubert), Halifax; Natasha Senuk (Lance Senuk), Port Hawkesbury; Carmie Doyle (Cyril Roach), Evanston; Sonya Jesso (Charles Jesso), Port Hawkesbury; 13 grandchildren, Juston Ryan (Cortni Engler), (father John Ryan), Fort McMurray, Alberta; Garett Doyle (Kristine Landry), Fort McMurray, Alta.; Adam Doyle (Dakota Conrad), Keighan Dorton and Carissa Dorton, (father Kevin Dorton), Port Hawkesbury; Euan and Aiden Doyle, Alex and Jeanne Hubert, Halifax; Campbell Young and Caden Jesso, Port Hawkesbury, NS; James Alex and Caitlyn Landry, (father Scotty Landry), Evanston; great-grandchildren, Xavier Doyle, Fort McMurray, Alberta; Aubree Doyle, Port Hawkesbury; Londyn Ryan, Fort McMurray, Alberta; four siblings, Peggy Leonard, Gloria McNamara (Paul), Hughie John McDonald (Levina, Tina Marinich (Richard); several nieces and nephews; close family, Richard and Sue Kelly Edgartown, Massachusetts; good friend, Patricia MacLeod and the late Emerson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Angus Smith (Pauline), Collie Smith, Donald James Smith, Karen Gillis.
He was predeceased by stepfather, Angus MacDonald; grandson, James Terence Ryan; sister, Patsy Howlett; niece, Oressa Meheriuk; close friend, C.R. Leonard.
Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Palliative Care Society at Strait Richmond Hospital.
