JOSEPH ALFRED MARTELL

Joseph Alfred Martell

Funeral service for the late Joseph Alfred Martell, 33, St. Peter’s, formerly of L’Ardoise, Richmond County, was held July 13 in Holy Guardian Angels Church, L’Ardoise, with Father Antolin Asor officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Mr. Martell died July 5, 2019, at Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.

Born in L’Ardoise he was the son of Alfie Martell and Ann Longaphy. He graduated from Richmond Academy in 2004. Known for his quiet nature, he enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. Whether it was keeping the driveway cleared of snow or the grass neatly trimmed, he saw what needed to be done and set about his chores without any notice to anyone. A main priority for Joseph was making certain that the family automobile looked presentable at all times. He took such pride in every detail to ensure that their black fusion was immaculate, inside and out. During leisure moments, he loved to spend time watching his favorite Batman or Ghostbuster movies, relaxing with a large bowl of Mom’s homemade soup or perhaps a tall glass of iced tea. He enjoyed challenging himself with various crossword puzzles and undoubtedly his greatest passion was his huge collection of model Nascar racing cars.

Besides his parents, he is survived by his sister, Christina; best friend  and brother, Stuart; many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Henry and Alice (Berthier) Martell; maternal grandparents, Dan and Anita (Bona) Longaphy.

Memorial donations may be made to his family.
