Funeral service for the late Joseph Rudolph Boudreau, 81, Petit De Grat, was held May 11 in St Joseph’s Church, Petit De Grat, with Father Michel Exalant officiating. Burial will be in Star of the Sea Cemetery, Petit De Grat. Mr. Boudreau died April 26, 2019, in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born in Petit De Grat, he was the son of the late David and Ina (Joshua) Boudreau. He was a past board member of the New Horizon Senior’s Club, past board member of St. Anne’s Community Care Centre and past president of Le Festival Acadien de Petit De Grat. His love of politics, his community and helping others led to several terms as a municipal councilor and volunteering as an official agent during several provincial elections. In his early years, he was part owner of Atlantic Fisheries, Petit De Grat. He then enjoyed a 20 year career with Canadian General Electric, Port Hawkesbury, which became Atomic Energy of Canada. This was followed by a 10 year career, travelling the province, as an area manager for Census Canada. From an early age, he was an avid fisherman. A great weekend for him included ice fishing for smelts with his wife and their friends Jean and Evangeline Babin. He also enjoyed photography and wood carving. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Anna (Gerard) Boudreau; daughter, Maria (Vincent) Boudreau, Port Hawkesbury; two sons, David Boudreau, Michael (Nicole) Boudreau, both of Halifax; four grandchildren, Camille (Sarah), Annick, Madison, Daniel; sister, Shirley Savoury, D’Escousse. He was predeceased by sister, Anna, in infancy; best friend, Jean Babin; parents-in-law, Laura and Walter Gerard; two brothers-in-law, George Gerard, Robert Savoury; two sisters-in-law, Zita and Zilda Gerard.
