Laura Mae Clyke

Funeral service for the late Laura Mae Clyke, 101, Sunnyville, Guysborough County, was held September 20 in Grace Baptist Church, Sunnyville, with Pastor John Jack officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Guysborough.

Mrs. Clyke died September 14, 2019, in the Guysborough Memorial Hospital.

Born in Sunnyville, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Lucy Ann (Pelley) Pelley. She was a faithful member of Grace Baptist Church, Sunnyville, where she taught Sunday school for many years, as well as the janitorial and maintenance duties with her husband, Phillip. She was a homemaker and loved baking. Through the years she often did cooking for weddings, funerals, people who were sick or just someone in need. She loved the Lord and read her bible daily and could often be heard through the day singing hymns. She was genuine and hardworking. Never one to complain if there was a task that needed to be done, she always did it without hesitation.

She is survived by four sons, Berton (Stella), Wade (Wilma), both of Monastery; Dave (Elaine), Sydney; Lloyd, Sunnyville; two daughters, Mary Ann Skinner, Sunnyville; Gloria (Ronald) Ash, Greenwood; adopted daughter, Clarabelle (Gladstone) William, Toronto; 29 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 14 great great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Phillip; four sons, John, Reid, Lindsay; one, at childbirth; two daughters, Mildred; one, at birth; brother, Harry; two sisters, Georgina ‘Jean’; one, in infancy.

Memorial donations may be made to Grace Baptist Church, Sunnyville.
