Leo Joseph ‘Snapper’ Macdonald
Funeral service for the late Leo Joseph ‘Snapper’ MacDonald 62, Soldiers Cove, was held August 29 in Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Barra Head, with Father Duncan MacIsaac officiating. Mr. MacDonald died August 23, 2018. Born May 24, 1956, in Soldiers Cove, he was the son of Margaret ‘Peggy’ Collet and the late Edmond Collet. He was a well-known automotive and heavy duty mechanic, who serviced the surrounding communities for more than 37 years. After graduation, he spent his earlier years with his uncle in the mine in Revelstoke British Columbia. He worked at Chrysler in Sydney, owned and managed the Ultramar in St. Peters, later worked at the bus garage and was recently employed with Hertz Rental and Equipment in Fort McMurray for the past five years. On his days off, he worked at the shop. Besides his mother, he is survived by five children, Josh (Cassandra), Irish Cove; Matt (Paula), River Bourgeois; Devan, St. Peters; Brett (Sam) Chapel Island; Tasha, Soldiers Cove; five grandchildren Ben, Ella, Piper, River, Isla; four brothers, Angus, Francis, Willie Joe (Joy), all of Soldiers Cove; Mike (Terri), Sydney River; three sisters, Mary Lizzie, Barra Head; Juliana (Wayne), Madonna, both of Soldiers Cove; aunts, uncles, extended family; long-time companion, Loretta. He was predeceased by his wife, Colleen; godmother, Agnes. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice. Online condolences: www.greensfuneralhome.ca
