Lloyd William Toney

Funeral service for the late Lloyd William Toney, 72, Waycobah First Nations, was held August 10 in Blessed St. Katari Parish Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Waycobah First Nation, with Father Conrad Edwards officiating.

Mr. Toney died August 2, 2019, in Alderwood Palliative Care Unit, Baddeck.

Born July 10, 1947, in Shubenacadie, he was a son of the late Benjamin Charles and Susan (Googoo) Toney. He was a welder, carpenter, and crack filler by trade. He was a Waycobah police constable, private investigator, security guard in Halifax and cribbage champ. He was a devoted father, grandfather and friend to many.

He is survived by 10 children, Vanessa, Audrey, Nathan Toney, Denny Brian Googoo, Eskasoni; Cheri Brooks, Stephen, Chester, Justin W. Johnson, Lloyd and Therese Toney, Indian Brook; 21 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two godchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; sibling, Benedict Toney; sister-in-law, Elizabeth (John) Toney; Juanita (Dan J) Paul, Grace (Joe Mike), Paul, Albert, Fabian, Jackie (Christopher), Bartholomew Toney.

He was predeceased by three siblings, Dianne Toney, John Toney, Lena Bernard; nephew, Kevin D. Poulette; two brothers-in-law, Lawrence ‘Lunch’ Bernard, Dan J. Paul; sister-in-law, Annie Jane Toney.
