Lorne 'Ralph' Neil

Ralph Neil, 73, Port Hawkesbury, died June 18, 2018, in Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born August 7, 1944, in Bell Island, Newfoundland, he was a son of the late Doug and Flora (Mercer) Neil. He worked for the local pulp mill for 27 years. Upon retirement, he began his career in Real Estate and was a member of the N.S. Association of Realtors. Throughout his 50 years in Port Hawkesbury, he served as a town councilor for 14 years, was active in the curling club for 15 years, volunteered with the Festival of the Strait and helped build the Strait Minor Soccer Association. Ralph is survived by his wife, Gwen Neil, Port Hawkesbury; daughter, Rhonda MacLean (Duncan), Bedford; son, Scott Neil (Shelly), Montreal; four grandchildren, Emily (Mark), Ted, Bedford; Ben, Nathan, Montreal; two brothers, Ted Neil (Joanne), Baltimore, Maryland; Wall Neil (Hannah), St. John’s, Newfoundland.
