Funeral service for the late Louis Robert Bissonnette, 73, Port Hawkesbury, was held July 18 in St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury, with Father Conrad Edwards officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Mr, Bissonnette died July 13, 2018, in the Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born in Sydney, he was a son of the late Wilfred Joseph and Catherine Ida ‘Katie’ (Perrin) Bissonnette. He worked for the Town of Port Hawkesbury, Department of Highways, John MacMaster and the construction of Gulf Oil. He loved to play cards and was a true Montreal Canadiens’ and New York Yankees’ fan. For the last 20 years, he was known for working with Dennis Haverstock Funeral Homes, assisting them whenever needed. It was during this time that he made many, many lifelong friends throughout Inverness, Victoria, Richmond and Guysborough counties, and beyond. He is survived by his wife, Sadie (Lynk); daughter, Louise (Bruce), Port Hawkesbury; son, Robbie (Charmaine), Port Hawkesbury; two grandsons, Tyson MacEachern, Jordan Bissonnette; stepdaughter, Mary Ann (Sandy); stepson, Dan Alex; special friend, Craig MacLean; sister-in-law, Darlene, Oxford; brother-in-law, Philip, Sydney; several cousins. He was predeceased by his mother and father-in-law, Irene and Alex Lynk. Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Cemetery Fund, Strait Richmond Hospital Foundation or a charity of choice.
