Funeral service for the late Lydia Anne MacDonald, 72, West Bay Road, Inverness County, was held January 29 in St. Margaret’s Roman Catholic Church, West Bay Road, with Father Duncan MacIsaac officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Mrs. MacDonald died January 25, 2019, at home. Born August 3, 1946, in Arichat, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Frederick and Margaret Rita (Maddox) Morash. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker and she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was employed as a postmaster with Canada Post for more than 35 years. She had previously worked as a telephone operator for Maritime Tel & Tel, as well as a secretary for the local school board and for several local businesses. A founding member of the West Bay Road Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, she also served terms as secretary and president. She enjoyed playing bingo, slots, cribbage, 45s, Atari, Yahtzee and Skip Bo. She also enjoyed quilting, knitting, crocheting, sewing, cross-stitch and Artex painting. She participated in recreational and social activities such as snowmobiling, camping, attended dances and concerts, hosted many types of home sales parties and loved classic country music. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Peter; four children, Douglas (Giselle), Sydney; Glenda (Robert), Port Hawkesbury; Jacquelyn (Stephen), West Bay Road; Bradley, Port Hawkesbury; four grandchildren, Melissa (Wayne), Danielle (Scott), Christopher (Kendra), Madison; two great-grandchildren, Brody, Blake; two sisters, Helen Comeau, Kempt Road; Mary (John) Hayes, Port Hawkesbury; several nieces, one nephew; many cousins. She was predeceased by great-granddaughter, Raelynn Bona; brother, Clarence Morash; sister-in-law, Harriett (Spears) Morash; brother-in-law, Fred Comeau; daughter-in-law, Tracey Rideout.
