M. CATHERINE LANDRY

Funeral service for the late Mary Catherine Landry, 83, was held June 28 in St. John the Baptist Church, River Bourgeois. Mrs. Landry died June 22, 2019, at home. Born May 27, 1936, she was the eldest daughter of the late Peter and Bessie (Dickson) Cook of Wood Ave., New Waterford. She was a graduate of St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing in Glace Bay. She helped many patients in both Ontario and Nova Scotia, her favorites were always children. She enjoyed hard work, she and her husband doing many renovations of their house in River Bourgeois, laying the foundations, doing their own construction and upgrades. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, funny stories, country and traditional music and trips to the casino. She is survived by three daughters, Bernadine (Geoff), Brenda (Ross), Bernice (Mark); three grandchildren, Sara (Ian), Addison, Emberly; one great-grandson, Max; two sisters, Betty Anne (Murray Kirkpatrick), Ruth Gaudet; two brothers, Peter (Aleta), Bernie. She was predeceased by her husband, Bernard; her son, Bernard Amable ‘Tinker’; five sisters, Margaret, Alice, Edie; Sheila, Patricia, in infancy; five brothers, Johnnie, Patrick, Jimmy, John; David, in infancy; sister-in-law, Donna Cook; two brothers-in-law, John William Fraser and Austin Gaudet.
