Margaret ‘Pecka’ MacDonald

Margaret ‘Pecka’ Macdonald
Funeral service for the late Margaret ‘Pecka’ MacDonald, 89, was held May 31 in Stella Maris Church, Inverness, with Father Dan MacDonald officiating. Burial was in the Judique parish cemetery. Mrs. MacDonald died May 27, 2019, in the QEII – Halifax Infirmary. Born in Inverness, she was a daughter of the late Alex Dan and Florence MacNeil. She left Cape Breton at a young age and went to Toronto for work, where she met her husband, John R. MacDonald, and they settled there to raise their family. She loved her Cape Breton home and the family would make the annual trip over the Causeway every summer. Company was always welcome in the MacDonald home. A game of ‘125’ was a common weekend event. A Cape Breton dance on a Saturday night followed by a house party was a regular occurrence. She was always up for an adventure. If there was a car on the move and an invitation was extended, she would always respond with a smile and say ‘why not’. She loved playing cards with her grandchildren, attending their hockey and baseball games and dance recitals. She also found great pleasure in slipping them some money so that they could treat themselves. Faith and church were always present in her life. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by two daughters, Pat (Leo) Campbell, Charlene (Brian) MacEachen; four gradnchildre, Kim, Brad, Jennie, Ryan; five brothers, John, Archie, Michael, Dan C., Jamie; three sisters, Kay, Sadie, Hughanna; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, John R.; siblings; many friends and relatives. Memorial donations may be made to the Central Inverness Palliative Care Society, the SPCA or a charity of choice. Online condolences: www.invernessfuneralhome.com.
