Margaret Rose Bona
Funeral service for the late Margaret Rose Bona, 66, L’Ardoise, was held October 13 in Holy Guardian Angels Parish, L’Ardoise, with Father John Yake officiating. Burial was in Holy Guardian Angels Cemetery. Mrs. Bona died October 7, 2018. Born November 9, 1951, in L’Ardoise, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Arme and Anita Christina (Bona) Longeepee. In the 1970s, she worked at Richmond Villa in St. Peter’s, until the birth of her children at which time she became a full-time mother. In the 1990s/2000s, she was housekeeper and cook for the many priests who served Holy Guardian Angels Parish in L’Ardoise. She was a wonderful cook and baker and was known for her homemade baked goods, bread and her Christmas meat pies. She also made pickled beets, tomato chow and cucumber relish in the fall. She enjoyed feeding local finches and hummingbirds around her outdoor flower beds, Lexicon puzzles and watching Blue Jays Baseball. She also enjoyed sewing quilts, particularly ones made with squares of fabric of sentimental value. She was a ferocious knitter and in recent years she had worked hard to master the art of knitting winter socks. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Billy, L’Ardoise; daughter, Natalie; son, Michael, Bedford; five sisters, Mary (Jude), River Bourgeois; Sylvia (Bryan) Carlton Place, Ontario; Ann (Alfred), St. Peter’s; Edna, Barbara, both of Halifax; three brothers, George (Susan), Alex, Walter, all of Halifax. She was predeceased by brother, Joseph. Memorial donations may be made to the IWK Health Care Foundation or the Palliative Care Unit at the Strait Richmond Hospital.
