MARGUERITE ANNE BETHUNE

Marguerite Anne Bethune

Funeral service for the late Marguerite Anne Bethune, 70, was held January 11 in St. Ninian Cathedral, Antigonish, with Father Donald MacGillivray officiating.

Mrs. Bethune died January 6, 2020, in QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax Infirmary Site.

Readers at the funeral Mass were Sophie MacInnis, Ashley Cameron and Megan Cameron. Abby, Maggie and Lucy Chisholm presented the offertory gifts Music was provided by Emery Van de Wiel and St. Ninian Funeral Choir.

Urn bearers were Donna and Bill Brown.

Born March 20, 1949, in Antigonish, she was a daughter of the late Helen (MacDonald) and Roy Stewart of Lochaber. She worked for many years as a caregiver to the elderly, who quickly became life-long friends.  Shee was an avid gardener who took great pride in watching her flowers grow. She also loved to read and do crossword puzzles.

She is survived by her husband, Lloyd, Antigonish; son, Brent (Susan) Lochaber; granddaughter, Lily Madeleine Bethune; brother, Reverend Doug Stewart, Antigonish; sister, Joan Stewart, Antigonish; two half-brothers, Dennis (Cindy) St. Andrews; Darryl, Montreal; two nephews, Wayne (Jennifer),  Mark (Chantel); grandniece/nephews; numerous cousins. 

Memorial donations may be made to Antigonish & Area Homemakers, 133 Church St Antigonish NS B2G 2E3.
