Funeral service for the late Mary Catherine ‘Kay’ Laben, 91, will be held at a later date. Mrs. Laben died January 25, 2019, in Richmond Villa, St. Peter’s. Born February 11, 1927, in West L’Ardoise, she was a daughter of the late Placide and Sophie (Evong) Roach. She lived most of her adult life in Reserve Mines with her husband. Following his death, she and her son returned to West L’Ardoise. She is survived by daughter, Marie (Bruce) Prout, West L’Ardoise; son, Gerard Laben, West L’Ardoise; three grandchildren, Shane (Marie) Prout, Gracieville; Rodney Prout, Yellowknife Northwest Territories; Shauna Prout, Clyde’s River, Nunavut; two great-grandchildren, Tristine and Hunter Prout; three sisters, Sarah (Lavin) Richards, May (Clifford) Mombourquette, Jane (Carol) Croft; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Daniel Joseph Laben; two brothers, Lauchie Roach, Louis Roach; four sisters, Beatrice (Louis) Taylor, Elizabeth (Fred) Bona, Theresa (Gordon) LeRue, Annie Jane, in infancy.
