Funeral service for the late Mary Colleen Sloan, 79, R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home, Antigonish, was held October 1 in Immaculate Conception Church, Heatherton, with Father Andrew Gillies officiating, assisted by Deacon Art Riley. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Mrs. Sloan died September 26, 2018, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Lindsay Kopf and Hannah Sloan presented the offertory gifts at the funeral Mass. Music was provided by Heatherton Folk Choir and Ty Wallace. Pallbearers were Sheldon Hawes, Addison Hawes, Clayton Anderson, Peter Kopf Jr., Tyler Landry and Zachary Landry. Born May 11, 1939, in Sydney, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Hazel (Mombourquette) Fanning. She was employed with St. Martha’s Hospital in her early years and later, with St. Francis Xavier University. She enjoyed dancing, playing bingo and gardening. She is survived by her husband of more than 52 years, James, North Grant; two daughters, Trish (Michael) Chisholm, St. Andrews; Debbie (Peter) Kopf, North Grant; two sons, Robert (Tina), Debert; Edward, Williams Point; nine grandchildren, Tyler, Courtney, Zachary, Peter, Lyndsay, Hannah, Maia, Dylan, Kristen; two brothers, Peter, Westmount; Michael, North River; three sisters, Janette, Ontario; Betty, Halifax; Delores, North River. She was predeceased by sister, Josephine; two brothers, Nick, George. Memorial donations may be made to the Lung Association or the Alzheimer’s Society. Online condolences: www.clcurry.com
