Mary Doris MacDougall

Funeral service for the late Mary Doris MacDougall, 86, Port Hawkesbury, formerly of Judique, was held December 5 in St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church, Judique, with Father Allan MacMillan officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Mrs. MacDougall died November 29, 2018, at home. Born in Hamilton, she was the daughter of the late Mary and James Howcroft. She knitted and crocheted items and made sure the lonely or shut in were made a welcomed part of any holiday. She loved to travel and, in her later years, took every opportunity to travel anywhere, as long as there was an airplane involved. On her 75 birthday, she flew a plane over Judique during an aerial tour of Inverness County. She is survived by six daughters, Isabel MacDonald, Prince George, British Columbia; Flossie MacDougall, Quesnel, B.C.; Pat Lewis (Brad), Grande Prairie, Alberta; Margie Lewis, Lower Sackville, N.S.; Sharon Dorton (John), Port Hawkesbury; Judy Ellingbo (John), Port Hawkesbury; five sons, Lornie (Mary), Judique; Sandy (Ann Marie), Port Hawkesbury; Jimmy (April), Dartmouth; Johnny (Amy), Port Hastings; Edward (Bev), Judique; 34 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Bernie; son, John Dan; daughter, Kathy Cowpar; great-granddaughter, Jessica Meisner; two brothers, Joe, James.
