MARY EDNA AVERY

Funeral service for the late Mary Edna Avery, 91, Larry’s River, Guysborough County, was held January 4 in St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, Larry’s River, with Father William Crispo officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Mrs. Avery died December 29, 2019, in Milford Haven Home for Special Care, Guysborough.

Born in Larry’s River, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Mamie (Gerrior) Delorey. She was a devoted homemaker and worked at various jobs, clerk with Canada Post, the Co-op, for many years, Canso Fish Plant, the Lobster Factory and Blueberry Canning Factory in Larry’s River. She enjoyed planting a garden, going for walks in the woods to pick May flowers or balsam. She spent many memorable trips with her sisters visiting other siblings when she was younger.

She is survived by five sons, Francis (Linda), Calgary, Alberta.; Peter (Terry), Larry’s River; Doug (Paula), Antigonish; Hughie (Mary), Hammonds Plains; Archie (Lisa), Antigonish; two daughters, Margaret (John), Whitehead; Sandra, Larry’s River; 13 grandchildren, Tracy, Shane, Brent, Andrew, David, Cory, Patrick, Ashley, Mandy, Brittany, Joshua, Breanna, Brennan; five great-grandchildren, Jordyn, Dawson, Chloe, Ethan, Brooke; three brothers, John, Larry’s River; Francis (Maryanne), Hay River; Paul (Davida), Hay River; four sisters, Sister Theresa, Ottawa; Margaret, Quebec; Yvonne (Dennis), Larry’s River; Rose (Bill), Lower Sackville; two sisters-in-law, Helen Delorey, Karen Delorey; many nieces, nephews and their families.

She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, David; grandson, Lee Avery; three brothers, Joseph, Raymond, Peter; two sisters, Gertrude, Dora; son-in-law, Wayne.

Memorial donations may be made to Communities Along the Bay Multipurpose Center, Bradford Pellerin Room or Guysborough Hospital Auxiliary.
