Mary Florence ‘Flossie’ Larade
Funeral service for the late Mary Florence ‘Flossie’ Larade, Inverness, was held May 28 in Stella Maris Church, Inverness, with Father Dan MacDonald officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
Mrs. Larade died May 22, 2019, at home.
Born June 29, 1941, she was a daughter of the late Donald and Margaret ‘Maggie’ Beaton of Mabou Harbour. She resided there for many years before moving to Boston, where she met her late husband, Alex, and started their family. Several years later, they moved back to Nova Scotia, with four babies in tow, and continued to grow their family by two more. She resided in Inverness later in life, where she worked as a janitor in Inverness Consolidated Elementary and High School for many years, beside her great friend and co-worker, Margaret MacLeod. Many teas, smokes and laughs were shared, which they both enjoyed. You were always welcome in Flossie’s home for a smile, a cup of hot tea, and a bite to eat. You never had to worry about not being taken care of when you were in her home and presence. You always left with a full belly and a smile on your face.
She is survived by her five children, Rickey (Reta), Scotsville; Lenus (Sandra), Sackville; Alexander (Natalie), Port Hood; Anne Margaret (David Poirier), Inverness; Rosaleigh (Jeffery Davidson), Scotsville; 11 grandchildren, Justin, Aaron, Brayden, Meaghan, Alexandria (Ryan MacDougall), Melanie, Ryan, Declan, Alaura, Carter, Nate; great-grandchild, John Ainslie Patrick MacDougall; brother, Donnie Beaton, Mabou Harbour; three sisters, Sally Boyle, Christina Mac Donald, Mary Catherine Glanman.
She was predeceased by her husband, Alex; son, Patrick; grand-daughter, Mary Emma Rose; four brothers, John Dan, Sandy, Alexander ‘Red,’ Josie Beaton.
Memorial donations may be made to Central Inverness Palliative Care Society.
