Funeral service and burial of the late Mary Harriet Petrie, 74, Antigonish, formerly of West Bay Road, will be held in St. Margaret’s Parish, West Bay Road, at a later date. Mrs. Petrie died January 28, 2019, in R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home, Antigonish. Born August 1, 1944, in New Waterford, she was the daughter of the late John and Hilda (MacDonald) Petrie. She was a retired home support worker with Inverness County Home Care and a rural route mail driver with Canada Post. She was a longtime member of the West Bay Road Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, baking and making quilts. She is survived by two sons, Michael (Lorrie), Grand Anse; Brian, Dartmouth; two daughters, Angela (Marc) Grimard, Prud’Homme, Saskatchewan; Patricia (Bill) Tait, Ellerhouse, N.S.; nine grandchildren, Kaleb, Michael, Monica, Joshua, Mathieu, Joel, Bret, Breigh and Mikayla; great-grandchild, Abel; two sisters, Marilyn (Lester) Bird, Amherst; Helen Fougere, Havre Boucher; sister-in-law, Anne Petrie, Sydney; two brothers, George (Carolyn) Petrie, Riverside; Steven (Lillian) Petrie, St. Peters Bay, Prince Edward Island; several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by two brothers, Johnny (Mary) Petrie, Billy Petrie; brother-in-law, Carl Fougere. Memorial donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or St. Margaret’s Cemetery Fund.
