MARY MARGARET 'BABE' MACLEAN

Funeral service for the late Mary Margaret ‘Babe’ MacLean, 85, was held December 7 in St. Margaret’s Church, West Bay Road, with Father Duncan MacIsaac officiating.

Mrs. MacLean died November 29, 2019, in Inverary Manor, Inverness.

Born January 18, 1934, in Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Angus & Mary (MacInnis) Howlett, West Bay Road. She enjoyed baking and cooking for family and friends while sharing this passion with her grandchildren over the years. She was a member of St. Margaret’s Parish and St. Margaret’s CWL, West Bay Road. In her early years, she worked as a housekeeper for the Skye Motel, then worked for CNR as a cook. Later in life, she owned and operated a bed and breakfast with her husband in West Bay.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Mac Donald, Evanston; three granddaughters, Erin (Cory) MacNamara, Elmsdale; Brenna (Tyler), Coldbrook; Kelsey (Leroy), Antigonish; three great-granddaughters, Skylar, Paislee, Adalyn; two brothers, Bernie (Linda) Howlett, Steve (Marguerite) Howlett, Port Hawkesbury; sister, Tena Howlett, West Bay Road; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband, Ian MacLean; four brothers, Leo, Jackie, John, Donnie; two sisters, Catherine, Florence.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Margaret’s Cemetery Fund or the Inverary Manor, Inverness.
