MARY RITA CHASTON
A memorial service for the late Mary Rita Chaston, 86, Dartmouth, formerly of Little Liscomb, was held July 27 in St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, Sherbrooke, with Father Lazarus Guria officiating. Burial was in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Stillwater.
Mrs. Chaston died July 1, 2019, in Little Liscomb.
Born in Napan, NB, she was the eldest of 14 children of the late Gordon and Helen Blakely. She loved to cook for them as well as other family and friends who visited often. Her greatest place of joy was the house that she and her husband, Jake, designed and built in 1986 in Little Liscomb. Their door was always open to all – family, friends and strangers. She also loved sewing, quilting, boating, fishing, camping, riding ATVs and, at age 73, got her scooter license.
She is survived by her son, Jim (Debbie) Chaston, Dartmouth; three daughters, Nancy Chaston (Dave Smith), Little Liscomb; Norma (Angus) McNamara, Truro; Noreen (Mike) Sigrist, Dartmouth; 11 grandchildren, Angela (Fred), Lisa (Rene), David, Linda-Lee (Tim), Philip, Jared, Brett, Amanda (Chris), Andrea (Tom), Adam, Rebecca (Alex); 16 great-grandchildren, Lilianna, Greyson, Griffin, Ivan, Mireille, Benny, Pippa, Olivia, Hailey, Rosalynn, Cadence, Brayden, Avery, Chance, Rowan, Sloan; six sisters, four brothers; many nieces, nephews and their families.
She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, James (Jake) Philip Chaston; grandson, John McNamara; great grandson, Wyatt St. Germaine; sister, Anne Isaiah; two brothers, Clarence, Herbie Blakely.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, Sherbrooke, or St. Mary’s Memorial Hospital, Sherbrooke.
