Mary Ryter
Funeral service for the late Mary Ryter, 91, Antigonish, formerly of Halfway Cove, Guysborough County, was held June 25 in St. James Anglican Church, Halfway Cove, with Reverend Susan Slater officiating. Burial was in St. James Cemetery. Mrs. Ryter died June 20, 2019, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born December 2, 1927, in Yellow Marsh, Guysborough Co., she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Annie (Casey) DeRabbie. She worked for many years in Halifax at Globe Laundry, VG Hospital and Kings College, Dartmouth Free Press, then moved her family back to Halfway Cove. She was involved with the altar guild of Emmanuel Church, Dartmouth, and was a member of St. James Anglican Church, Halfway Cove. She enjoyed embroidery, baking and belonged to the Garden Club in Guysborough. She enjoyed storytelling and playing 45s. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Les; eight children, Alice (Jim), James, Stephen (Barbara), Debbie (Ron), William (Cecil), Brian, Kevin, Dale (Alanna); 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rita ‘Sinnie’, Betty; brother, Donnie (Lori); special cousin, Kaye MacPherson; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, William and John DeRabbie. Memorial donations may be made to St. James Cemetery Fund. Online condolences: www.haverstocks.com
