Michael Donald Bowles

Funeral service for the late Michael Donald Bowles, 42, St. Andrews, Antigonish County, was held May 14 in St. Andrews Church, St. Andrews, with Father Andrew Gillies officiating, assisted by Father Charlie Cameron and Deacon Art Riley. Burial was in South River Cemetery. Mr. Bowles died May 9, 2019. Readers at the funeral Mass were Agnes Archibald, Angela Rooney and Roberta Rogers. Minnie MacLaughlin and Debbie MacLellan presented the offertory gifts. Music was provided by Mary MacIntosh. Urn bearers were Erma Bowles and Erika Gomez. Honorary pallbearers were Arnold MacGrath, Joel MacGrath, Craig MacGrath, Wayne MacDonald, Ryan MacIsaac, Willie Smith, Russell MacLennan and Ian Tate. Born June 12, 1976, in Halifax, he was the son of Erma (MacGrath) Bowles, Springfield, Antigonish County, and the late Donald Bowles. He worked in construction in Alberta and Ontario. He enjoyed the outdoors and was happiest when near the water and travelling through the woods on his ATV and snowmobile. He was a dedicated Montreal Canadiens fan and was fond of animals. Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife, Erika Gomez; many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by maternal grandparents, Fraser and Lois MacGrath; paternal grandparents, Ambrose and Teresa Bowles. Memorial donations may be made to St. Andrews Cemetery.
