MINA RUTH SINCLAIR

Mina Ruth Sinclair

Funeral service for the late Mina Ruth Sinclair, 95, Argyle, Guysborough County, was held December 28 in King’s United Church, Loch Katrine, with Reverend Meredith Marple officiating. Burial was in Goshen Cemetery.

Mrs. Sinclair died December 24, 2019, in High-Crest Sherbrooke Home for Special Care.

Born May 23, 1924, in Country Harbour, she was the youngest daughter of the late Harold and Sarah (Fisher) Hudson. She graduated from the Children’s Hospital in Halifax in 1946 and was awarded first prize for general proficiency. In 1948, she married Harold Sinclair and together they moved to Connaught Avenue in Halifax where they lived until 1982. During that time, she raised four children and was active in UCW at Edgewood United Church, was a member of Mayflower curling club and enjoyed her weekly curling and bridge club. In 1982, she moved back home to Guysborough County where both she and her husband enjoyed their retirement years, including many trips out west to Vancouver and California. She was a member of King’s United Church UCW and was active in the Goshen Community Centre, Highlander Curling Club and Clan Sinclair.  She enjoyed playing cards, spending time with her family and good friends and in later years enjoyed her new friends at High-Crest Sherbrooke Home for Special Care. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She is survived by two sons, Andrew, Halifax; James (Mary), Argyle; daughter, Jane (Bruce) Borden, Argyle; nine grandchildren, Jennifer (Dan) MacDougall, Jill (Devin) Weir, Matthew Sinclair, Amy Yorke, Sara (Jon) Osborne, Kimberly (Jonathan) Strum, Nicole (Dylan) Teasdale, Jeremy Sinclair, Craig Sinclair; 12 great-grandchildren, Kerri, Alex, Zoey, Emily, Jake, Eli, Fia, Ruby, Breah, Isabella, Brody, Ethan, sister-in-law, Gladys Sinclair; several nieces, nephews and their families.

She was predeceased by her husband, Harold MacNaughton Sinclair; daughter, Barbara Barnard; son-in-law, Terry Barnard; grandson-in-law, Jeff Yorke; sister, Helen Anderson; three brothers, Fisher, Bruce and Claude Hudson.

Memorial donations may be made to King’s United Church Memorial Fund.
