Minnie Agnes Mcgrath

Funeral service for the late Minnie Agnes McGrath, 86, Sherbrooke, formerly of Aspen, Guysborough County, was held August 4 in Kirk Memorial United Church, Glenelg, with Reverend Derek Elsworth officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Aspen.

Mrs. McGrath died August 1, 2019, in High-Crest Sherbrooke Home for Special Care.

Born in Indian Harbour Lake, she was a daughter of the late George and Mary (Bennett) Langille. She enjoyed knitting and shared her passion and love of knitting with everyone she knew. Her hand knit socks, mittens, scarves, and sweaters reached many places throughout the country and the world, from Germany, Newfoundland, British Columbia, U.S.A. and India. It was very important to her to share her knitting with people in need, including children at the IWK Hospital, Christmas Daddies, anywhere there was a need.

She is survived by three daughters, Marie MacLennan, Aspen; Katherine Simon, Aspen; Martha McGrath, Roberts Creek, British Columbia; six sons, George (Hazel), Larry’s River; Blair (Chris), Owen Sound, Ontario; Douglas (Joan), Aspen; Andy (Patty), Aspen; Ricky (Lisa), Antigonish; Hector (Aseneth), Truro; 16 grandchildren, Robie, Russell, Jamie, Hector Paul, Cindy, Garrett, Margaret Ann, Amy Dawn, Jammie-Lee, Tara, Morgan, Lloyd, Christopher, Natasha, Katalyn, Brittany; 15 great-grandchildren, Eden, Chase, Kaili, Paula, Asa, Lexi, Emmit, Nolan, Willy, Cayden, Jonathon, Baylen, Madden, Thomas, Liam; two sisters, Martha Kaiser, Katie Smith; brother-in-law, Ernie Jordan; two sisters-in-law, Kathy Langille, Louella Langille; many nieces, nephews and their families.

She was predeceased by her husband, Willie McGrath; son-in-law, Paul MacLennan; four brothers, Irwin, Burt, Alex, Frank; two sisters, Mary, Leta; two brothers-in-law, Bob, Graham; sister-in-law, Debbie.

Memorial donations may be made to High-Crest Sherbrooke Home for Special Care, Kirk Memorial United Church, or Evergreen Cemetery Fund.
