A celebration of life for the late Muriel Delia Christina Martin, 99, was held February 9 in Boylston United Church. Burial was in Manchester and Area Cemetery. Mrs. Martin died February 4, 2019, in Milford Haven Nursing Home for Special Care, Guysborough. Born in Port Shoreham, Guysborough County, she was a daughter of the late Ida (Ferguson) and Abner MacMaster. After working in Montreal for a short time, she married Earle Martin and moved to Halifax where they raised five children. She was a member of United Memorial Church for more than 60 years, a lifetime member of the UCW and the senior choir. She was also a 25-year member of the Order Eastern Star. A busy homemaker, she worked part time jobs until the age of 50, when she went to Miss Murphy’s Business College and then worked for several years as a receptionist in Dr. Ian MacGregor’s family medical practice. She enjoyed family gatherings at her cottage on MacPherson Lake. Ever open to new experiences, at age 75, she travelled to Europe. During the past 15 years, she enjoyed delightful winter migrations to Florida. She was the last remaining sibling of her immediate family. She is survived by two sons, Robert, Alan; two daughters, Sharon (Wendy), Sister Miriam Martin, PVBM; four grandchildren, Liam Martin, Sandi, Heidi and Robert Smith; three great-grandchildren, Luke, Samuel, Kaïah; three nieces, Janice Kitchen, Shirley, (Ken Laufer) Joan (Tom Chisholm); three nephews, John (Sandi), Neil and Gary (Elaine) MacMaster; many great-grand nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Earle; daughter, Dianne; sister, Margaret; three brothers, Abner, Bruce and John; lifelong friend and sister-in-law, Flo MacMaster.
