Funeral service for the late Patrick John MacDonald, 54, Ballantyne’s Cove, was held August 3 in Holy Rosary Church, Ballantyne’s Cove, with Father Andrew Boyd officiating, assisted by Father Angus MacGillivray. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Cross bearer at the funeral Mass was Charlie MacDonald. Altar server was Bernie Falkenham. Readers were Yvette MacDonald, Genevieve MacNeil and Chuck Welsh. Breanna MacInnis and Sarah Jane MacDonald presented the offertory gifts. Eucharistic minister was Louie MacEachern. Music was provided by Tyrus Wallace. Pallbearers were Archie MacKenzie, John MacInnis, Brandon Boyd, Michael Boyd, Michael Falkenham and Carl Boyd. He was a son of Isabel (Murphy) MacDonald and the late Augustine MacDonald. He worked as a welder in his early years, then enjoyed a fishing career for the past 20 years. He was the captain of the Tanya Lynn and could be found on the wharf any time of the day, working on his boat and getting ready for lobster fishing. On the off season, he fished silver sides with his good friend Archie and built lobster traps. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Besides his mother, he is survived by three brothers, Colin V. (Nathalie), Pomquet; Blaise, Ballantyne’s Cove; Irving (Karen), Medicine Hat, Alberta; two godsons, Adam, Brandon; nine nieces and nephews, Ryan, Adam, Jack, Katey, Callahan, Colin AP, Sarah Jane, Charlie, Brayden. He was predeceased by grandparents, Patrick and Sophie Murphy, Colin and Mary Ellen MacDonald; twin niece and nephew, Blaise and Sophie, in infancy; aunt, Ann MacEachern.
