Funeral service for the late Peter Ernest Embree, 86, Port Hawkesbury, formerly of Pleasant Hill, was held September 14 in St. Mark’s United Church, Port Hawkesbury, with Reverend Heather Manuel officiating. Burial was in St. David’s Cemetery, Port Hastings.

Mr. Embree died September 11, 2019, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish.

Born February 16, 1933, he was a son of the late Freeman C. and Evangeline (Perry) Embree. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He had great respect for nature and, at one point, raised pheasants to release back into the wild. He served his country through his service in the Canadian Military and was a lifelong member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 43, Port Hawkesbury.

He is survived by seven children, June MacKay, Irene (Larry) Boudreau, Carolina (Dennis) Burnside, Lucy Embree, Peter (Laurella) Embree, Freeman Embree, Shane Embree; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; six brothers; six sisters, numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Jean; one great-grandson; six sisters; two brothers.
