A memorial service for the late Phyllis Ada Hendsbee, 78, Half Island Cove, Guysborough County, and Bedford, will be held at a later date. Mrs. Hendsbee died August 9, 2018, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born in Canso, she was a daughter of the late James and Ella (Morehouse) Haynes. She taught school and worked for Canada Post and Revenue Canada. In her younger years, she enjoyed fishing, boating, and hosting parties. During many trips to Florida, she loved to attend the markets to find new treasures. She took great pride in having an immaculate home and providing home-cooked meals, baked goods, and preserves to all who visited. In later years, she enjoyed her view of Chedabucto Bay and the sights and sounds of nature. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Bruce; daughter, Pam (Norman) Smith, Bedford; son, Gavin (Ruth), Middle Sackville; two grandchildren, Jared (Mandy) Smith, Andrea (Adam) Ward; three sisters, Nancy Reynolds, Halifax; Joyce Williams, Havre Boucher; Betty (Louis) Talbot, Port Hawksbury; brother, Dewey Haynes (Joelle), North Bay, Ontario; two sisters-in-law, Eileen Haynes, Geneve Richard-Haynes; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by son, Craig; two children, in infancy; three brothers, James, Fred, Thornton; sister-in-law, Marlene Haynes; two brothers-in-law, Arnold Reynolds, Reginald Williams.
