Funeral service for the late Ralph Peter Casey, 61, Larry’s River, Guysborough County, was held June 3 in St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, Larry’s River, with Father Callistus Abazie officiating. Burial was in St. Peter’s Parish Cemetery, Larry’s River. Mr. Casey died May 29, 2019, in Guysborough Memorial Hospital. Born in Canso, he was a son of the late Harry and Blanch Casey. He worked various jobs, including driving the school bus, but spent most of his life working for K&N Fisheries. He was an avid volunteer in the community and spent many years as chief of the volunteer fire department. He enjoyed playing guitar and singing. He played at many variety concerts in the community. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; two step-sons, Jimmy Avery (Shirley), Roger Avery (Betty); five grandchildren, Karen, Kenny, Kyle, Matthew, Chantelle; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Rick (Anne-Marie), Keith (Barbara-Anne), Trevor; five sisters, Lucy (George) O’Hearn, Jean Casey (Bobby), Mary Casey (John), Ruth (Darryl) Greencorn, Myrna Casey; two brothers-in-law, Thomas Avery (Helen), Raymond Hendsbee; two sisters-in-law, Bernice (John) Stone, Vicky Avery; many nieces, nephews and their families. He was predeceased by three brothers, Ronnie, Howard, Brent; sister, Frances Hendsbee; two brothers-in-law, Leonard and David Avery; sister-in-law, Beatrice (Billy) Horne.
